Practicing Christian Marriage, Part 1

Practicing Christian Marriage is a half-day workshop offered by Christian marriage and family expert, Jim Merhaut. Jim has published widely on family issues. He is also a national speaker. Most important, Jim has been married to Debbie for over twenty years, and they have five children.

Gather a group of four or more married couples, and contact us at dstiger@humilityofmary.org or call 724-964-8886 to schedule your Practicing Christian Marriage session.

Cost is $75.00 per couple and includes a gourmet dinner with tables for two at the end of the program.

Vacation with a Purpose

Bring your family to the Villa for a vacation experience you'll never forget. Time off from work or school does not mean that your faith commitment, your community responsibilities and your need to learn go out the window. Build character in your family with a vacation that makes a positive contribution to the world. Our staff can custom design a vacation of any length for your family that can include any or all of the following:

Overnight accommodations
Meals prepared by our professional staff

Heated indoor swimming pool

A peaceful rural setting with 726 beautiful acres
Trips to local sites including amusement parks, golf courses, professional sporting events, animal parks/zoos, museums and more

That's the vacation part. We will add appropriate doses of any of the following, and we'll prepare them to be meaningful for the ages of your children and adults:

Prayer services

Service projects on our farm or at a local site like Habitat for Humanity, a Homeless Shelter, a Soup Kitchen or some other opportunity

Family enrichment experiences such as family-building games, discussions, activities, etc.

Bring yourself, your family, church group, or group of friends to Villa Maria for the July 10-14 or July 31-August 3 Intergenerational Service Experiences. We will plan your service projects, offer meaningful service reflection activities for all ages, plan prayer services, provide your meals, give you a clean and comfortable place to sleep and leave plenty of time to explore the sites of our beautiful and historic area. More and more individuals are choosing to spend some of their vacation time helping others, and they are finding that their experiences bring them closer together and change them forever.

You will join other groups for service work during the day and close each day with a meaningful and engaging reflection activity prepared by our staff, a staff with outstanding intergenerational and family ministry training and experience.

Farm-Based Environmental Education (FBEE)

This unique Ohio and Pennsylvania curriculum-based program can be experienced on our farm as a field trip or in your classroom. Welcome Back, Villa Maria Class of 1980

The educational and spiritual legacy of your alma mater, Villa Maria High School, is being carried on by Villa Maria Education & Spirituality Center, which is housed in the old high school classroom building. As President and CEO of the Center, I am honored to join with people you know, such as Sr. Rosemary Hammer, in this wonderful ministry. We offer programs on the Villa campus and throughout the surrounding community. Like the high school, we support many ministries that serve those who suffer from poverty. The legacy of Villa Maria is reflected in everything we do and in our vision for the future. We need your help to make our vision a reality.

We need to upgrade our technology and other resources to meet the growing need for our programs to reach more people in a contemporary fashion. Our current vision for growth provides an excellent opportunity for the Class of 1980 to join together and make an impact on the future of the Villa. Here is how your Class of 1980 donation can help us accomplish our goals:

$20,000 will help us purchase vehicles for Outreach Programs
$10,000 will help us renovate the Gym and Begel Hall with new A/V equipment
$10,000 will help us develop interactive technologies on our website for youth and family programming
$5,000 will help us purchase A/V equipment for Outreach Programs
$2,500 will help us develop digital video segments for youth retreats
$1,000 will help us develop MPThRetreats, a new way to experience the Villa Campus with an individually guided spiritual tour using an MP3 player

No matter the amount, we thank you for your contribution to continue the legacy by supporting these important initiatives for Villa Maria. We share your excitement about your 30 year reunion and we are so glad you are coming home to celebrate! I'm looking forward to meeting you and thanking you in person this June!
